The Van den Heuvel company was founded in 1948 and at that time was active in earth, road and water works. At first the emphasis, certainly after the flood of 1953, was on dyke reinforcement. The office moved a few times, from Zierikzee, to Driebergen and finally settled in Werkendam.

The maintenance and repair of own machines was always carried out using own resources and over the years more and more overhaul and maintenance of third party equipment was added. The growth of this division was so great that at the end of the 1980s it was decided to continue as an independent company called Van den Heuvel Reparatie & Service.

The company was successfully expanded further. In 1995, Van den Heuvel acquired the import agency for the leading Finnish brand Junttan for Benelux and started, in addition to the repair and overhaul of earthmoving equipment, to also service the market for pile driving equipment.

In 2006, the current owner/director Marc Timmerman acquired the first shares in Van den Heuvel and in 2009 a complete takeover followed.

Since 1 January 2004, Van den Heuvel consists of three limited liability companies (BVs): Van den Heuvel Handel & Techniek B.V., Van den Heuvel Metaalwerken B.V. and Van den Heuvel Reparatie & Revisie B.V.
