The basic technology upon which Firetec Reacton' equipment is based is a pre-World War 2 invention, familiar to our engineers since 1964. This does not prevent some relatively newcomers to the field from misleadingly imagining having invented it in the 1970's, 1980's and even 1990's!
Still based on the pre WW2 concept, today's Firetec Reacton CT, CTX and Hybrid systems, now make use of specially engineered Reacton heat sensitive tubing (developed by ourselves in response to a direct request from NATO) to both detect and suppress fire.
Firetec Reacton systems work so rapidly and accurately, that the traditional practice of calculating quantity of suppressant based on compartment dimensions, are largely irrelevant. Firetec Reacton systems can hit the fire where and when it starts, so 'whole-compartment' or 'whole-room' flooding is often not required. As a result there are considerable reductions in risk of asphyxiation, collateral damage, wastage of extinguishing agent, down time and cost.
