Green mobility
In the coming decades, the automotive industry faces enormous challenges to contribute to climate-neutral mobility in 2050. In the short term, CO2 emissions from passenger cars and heavy-duty vehicles must be reduced by 100% by 2030 (compared to 2019 levels). At the same time, very ambitious targets on real pollutants must be met. Moreover, in Europe, several cities have already announced the introduction of emission-free zones by 2030 (Geofencing).
Smart mobility
Worldwide, over 1.3 million people die in traffic accidents every year. Among young people, traffic accidents is the number one cause of death. In addition, congestion, especially in the urbanized area, causes great social costs. Digitization and automation of the mobility system and vehicles can make major contributions to reducing these societal challenges.
Manufacturing
New, natural, lighter materials, as well as, more intensive use of existing materials (such as high-grade steel and aluminum) - and their smart processing - are the key ingredients to achieve the desired CO2 reduction.

International Business Development
The Dutch automotive industry is largely dependent on exports. The total annual turnover is about 20 billion euros. Almost 90% of this comes from exports. By far the largest automotive exporting country is Germany (44%). Followed by the United Kingdom (26%), Belgium (8%), the United States (5%), France (4%) and China (3%).
