he company Polytechnisch Bedrijf (P.T.B. ®) was founded in 1957 in Merelbeke, and it was one of the first manufacturers in Belgium of building specialities for the construction and general industry. During the first years, it became renowned for its product COMPAKTUNA, still the No. 1 in Belgium in its category of products.

In the meantime, the product assortment has been expanded to include some eighty items amongst which COMPAKTUNA® remains one of the standard bearers. Later - in 1966 - a start was made with the manufacturing of cement-based products. In 1974, P.T.B.® built a new plant at the cloverleaf in Zwijnaarde.

At this excellent geographical location, P.T.B.® expanded into a very modern dynamic enterprise consisting of the following departments: laboratories for research & development and quality control, production, stock, administration and sales. The present enterprise occupies an area measuring ± 27.000 m².

The range of products was further expanded through own developments, and today it comprises a complete offering of additives for mortar and concrete, primers, glues, mortars, plasters and finishing products.
