Pi Artworks Istanbul/London was founded by Yesim Turanli in 1998 in Istanbul.
By the early 2000's Pi Artworks was one of a small number of galleries that was successfully introducing young Turkish artists into the market. In 2008 the gallery led the way by being the first of over ten galleries to relocate to Istanbul's Tophane district. From 2009 onwards Pi Artworks has grown to include international artists, promoting them heavily to its local market. In 2011 the gallery expanded once more by opening another branch in Istanbul, and moving its headquarters to Misir Apt. building, an historic building at the heart of Istanbul's contemporary art district. In October 2013 it became the first Turkish commercial gallery to expand into the UK when Pi Artworks London opened on 55 Eastcastle Street, in the heart of bustling Fitzrovia.
Yesim Turanli splits her time between Istanbul and London and currently sits on the Art International selection committee and the Tate Middle-East acquisitions committee.
