Although today, Paterson ATV is best known for supplying, servicing and repairing ATVs, the business was founded in the late 1940s by James Paterson to carry out motorcycle repairs. James, who served in the RAF during WWII, was a keen motorcyclist who raced in a number of competitive events including the prestigious Isle of Man TT.

His son Michael took over the business in the 1970s when the first All Terrain Vehicles made their debut. He quickly recognised how important these machines would become to farmers and so, J Paterson &?Sons diversified from motorcycles to supplying and servicing ATVs. It was around the same time that our current showroom opened in Bank Square, Dalbeattie.

Today, the business is run by Mark Paterson who, reflecting the core business, has rebranded J Paterson & Sons Limited to Paterson ATV, our new trading name. Despite the changes over the years, Paterson ATV still offers the same commitment to customers that we have throughout our history which has allowed us to become the top Honda ATV?sales and service dealer in the UK.
