The Moody name has had a history in the marine business for six generations and Moody Decking is an independent business that was developed from the Moody Yachts company. Deck manufacturing was initially carried out as part of the Moody Yachts company, but believing there was a requirement for the production of quality teak decking, Martin and Scott Moody developed an idea to expand deck manufacturing to not just Moody Yachts, but to other yacht builders as well.
In the early days of the business they had a small factory in Lower Swanwick, Hampshire and spent time developing their ideas and investing in machinery. They created a method of production whereby a repeatedly accurate deck could be made of any size away from the yacht's location. Having refined the techniques for deck production, it was decided a larger premises would be needed to enable them to meet the demand their business had created amongst leading yacht manufacturers. Since 2008 Moody Decking has operated from a 2500 square meter modern factory space at Whiteley in Hampshire which houses the deck layout jigs and the modern mill equipment that now includes three CNC router cutters, laser mapping technology, CAD and a skilled workforce.
