Metrology Direct began trading with two staff in January 2000 from a small office in Frampton-upon-Severn, Gloucestershire. In September 2001 the company moved to a 1000 sq feet office and showroom in Stroud.

Over the following five years the company's business grew and in October 2006 the operation was moved to the Waterwells Business Park, Gloucester. In June 2007 Metrology Direct purchased Etamic UK, a wholly owned subsidiary of its primary supplier Hommelwerke GmbH, Germany. In the summer of 2009 the company started its gauge calibration business and was awarded UKAS accreditation for its in-house calibration laboratory in October 2010.

At the beginning of 2015 the company moved into the current building in Barnwood, Gloucester. We now have over 1200 sq metre to further develop and care for our customers.
