MENGEL designs and produces handmade furniture pieces primarily of concrete in our studio just outside of Copenhagen. Our design vision is minimal and elegant, with pieces that are simple yet sculptural in their purest form.

We work with the contrasting characteristics of concrete from silky smooth surfaces to rough and unpolished bottoms. Like everything in life, differences and contrasts are important. We want you to investigate the pieces and feel all the nuances, obtaining the understanding that each piece is telling its own sensible and unique story. 

The tactile nature of concrete, the color play of the naturalstone tone surface, the strong and solid feel of the material, as a rock, all evoke our senses and becomes a fundament for sharing big and small.

The perception of concrete as a material and how it can be used seems limited by its application as a construction material. At MENGEL we believe concrete has a much wider and versatile application, and that it represents a longed-for balance in interiors, melting the contrasts of the modern home with materials representing those from nature that connects and ground us in a fast-forward world.
