Since its establishment in May 2002, SIIQ (Kyushu Semiconductor & Electronics Technology Innovation Association), as an organization to operate the “Industrial Cluster Program” promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, has achieved results, through various projects, in the cultivation of markets, business promotion of the small-to-medium-sized local firms including venture companies, technological development and encouragement of the local talent.
Introducing a membership fee system in 2007, we set up four divisions ,“Public Relations,” “Technology Creation,” “Alliance” and “Business Creation”, in order to cultivate the networks with the local governments, industry and academia expanding into the new growth fields and businesses.
Based on these networks, we have been working on various programs for our members such as creation of innovation, application of the semiconductor technology to the new growth fields, formation of business alliances, and encouragement of the higher level talent.
Making the most of our advantage as a big accumulation-and-production stronghold of semiconductor technology and semiconductor-related businesses which have been developed for more than 40 years in the Kyushu region, we will continue to actively encourage the formation of various alliances and technological developments, and also to make every effort to produce appropriate circumstances in order for SIIQ members to develop new businesses and enhance the cooperation and support systems with universities and research institutes.
Moreover, we will improve and strengthen our programs and services for our member companies by meeting their further needs and also by promoting the cooperation with other regions and accelerating exchange programs of overseas business. We would appreciate it if SIIQ members could utilize the SIIQ services as a tool to achieve their purposes.
We would be most grateful for your kind support and cooperation so that “Silicon Island Kyushu” could make a
great progress toward the vitalization of the Kyushu region’s economy.
