Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. was established in 1973 with one gravel pit and one gravel truck, used to deliver aggregates to local farmers and businesses in the La Crete and Fort Vermilion areas. In response to a high demand for concrete products, the company soon began producing concrete in La Crete, Alberta.

As the company continued to grow, its operations expanded into gravel crushing and log hauling and eventually expanded into High Level, Alberta to provide concrete and aggregate products. In the late 1990’s, Knelsen diversified further; manufacturing asphalt as well as providing construction and paving services.

Today Knelsen is one of the largest, privately owned companies in Alberta which continually strives to meet the changing demands of communities and businesses across Western Canada.
