Hatch Gallery is based in the beautiful ancient harbour town, Christchurch, Bournemouth in Dorset.
Situated close to the Priory, Hatch specialises in British Contemporary Art, Ceramics, handcrafted jewellery plus some driftwood furniture and sculpture. The gallery has been open in Christchurch since 2012 having moved from Kent near Tunbridge Wells. There is therefore a wide range of artists exhibiting both from Kent and the West Country.
The name ‘Hatch’ is in reference to Kent artist, Jane Baier who is famous for painting chickens and we have used one of her chickens for our logo.
Just a few doors up from the gallery is Church Hatch House, a rare example of Georgian architecture in Christchurch. So the name ‘Hatch’ represents a fusion of Kent and Dorset.
Although we represent a wide range of artists and styles, the gallery has a definite leaning towards the sea theme: boats, beach huts and many sea landscapes are abundant.
