Hammoon Cycles started out building steel cycle frames. We made our own Jigs and fixers, tube bending tools then dropouts, bb shells, head tubes, iscg mounts even our own cable guides. We took part in Bespoke Bristol show and raced our 4X bike frame twice at Megavalanche, to prove it was up to it and for fun.

After supporting the frame building with contract engineering for two years the unit we were base in was changing tenants and we decided to take it on and open a retail cycle shop.

We opened the shop in June 2012. The welder was squeezed out as more stock came in and in June 2014 we doubled in size. Coming from frame building our strength is the workshop and technical. We will service, repair and if you want race prepare any cycle or related machine. Our staff come from all types of cycle sport and we like the challenge of a classic renovation. Now Cytech qualified and a Fox fork service centre.

In 2014 we organised the first Shaftesbury Town centre criterium races (GOLD RUSH) and a return of the hill climb up Gold Hill. It was great fun, the weather was kind to us and it was well received by participants, spectators and Shaftesbury town.

We currently help support one young racer in Downhill (see Maya's blog posts) and a few friends race in Hammoon Cycles shirts. 2016 will see some new race kit.

At present we are not building our own bikes but it is something we will go back to once we have a bit more time and space! The plan is to have another location for the frame building where we could run workshops and training courses, but that won't be this year!
