Jeff Laidler and Chris Gibbs started Gibbs Laidler in 1997 having worked closely at Willis Group, one of the world’s largest insurance brokers and risk management groups. Identifying a need for independent and impartial advice they established Gibbs Laidler to provide an independent insurance and risk advisory service to meet the needs of organisations requiring a second opinion on what was and still is a significant business expense.

The business worked in a range of business sectors and clients from Securicor, The Body Shop, British Waterways Board and Specsavers all utilised the unique approach Gibbs Laidler provided. Over time, the business focussed on the needs of housing associations providing independent advice on some of the largest Housing PFI contracts and managing insurance tenders before the widespread introduction of OJEU to the sector in 2003. We are now running in excess of 40 tenders each year that comply with the European Procurement Rules

Gibbs Laidler’s independent services have helped many housing associations to choose a broker and insurer effectively, improve the standard of service and protection which they receive from their broker or insurer. We produce a number of insurance guides and briefings, ranging from Directors and Officers liability to the issues surrounding joint ventures.

Due to the on going demand for our services we’ve expanded the Gibbs Laidler team with a further two consultants joining the partnership.
