The International Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Management (ICE WaRM) provides a national focus and international gateway to Australia's education, training and research expertise in water. Operating as WaterEd Australia and based in Adelaide, the Centre was established in 2004 as an Australian Government initiative, with the support of the South Australian Government.

ICE WaRM is building international recognition as Australia's centre for leadership and innovation in collaborative approaches to water resources management, through its growing partnerships both in Australia and internationally. ICE WaRM facilitates collaboration in water-related research, education and training opportunities for international scholars wanting to advance their careers.

Aims of the Centre include:

- Building and extending Australia's international profile by establishing and facilitating an extensive range of scholarships, fellowships and exchanges

- Enhancing Australia's suite of award and non-award educational programmes, courses and access options for international markets

- Attracting significant numbers of new international students participating within a seamless suite of internationally-oriented Water Resources Management education and training programs

- Showcasing Australia's experience and expertise in water resources policy development through education and research activity and by running international conferences, exhibitions and seminars

- Making best use of Australia's innovative technology demonstration and field sites and centres for the enhancement of education programs and services and

- Developing capacity to sustain its collaborative network through generating its own income sources.
