Cerescon is a young, rapidly developing high-tech startup. The company specializes in the development, production and marketing of an automatic selective harvesting machine for white asparagus.

White asparagus is currently still picked by hand. It’s backbreaking work for which it is becoming increasingly difficult to find pickers. What’s more, there are drawbacks to current methods of picking in terms of the quality of the harvested asparagus, since spears can sometimes go undetected and be left sticking out of the sand bed for the next harvesting session. This can lead to discoloration and the asparagus developing open heads. The quantity can also be increased: for a 23-centimetre end-product, a 45-centimetre spear is required due to the unreliability of the current harvesting process.
