The concept of the Blue®Washer is based on the idea to evacuate microtiter plates using g-force like in a manual tapping process. Even today, many researchers regard the manual tapping ("dump/pat") as the gold standard.

When starting BlueCatBio in late 2014 it was not clear at all to the founders what a tremendous benefit a non-contact media change would have in 2D cell-based assays. Quickly, many of the leading pharma companies showed great interest and today they are using the Blue®Washer to sucessfully improve the quality of their assay data and drive efficiency.

Given the success of the technology in 2D cell-based assays, Blue®Washer has now moved into bead-based applications in genomics and proteomics. Recent applications deal with 3D cellular assays, and sophisticated immunostaining procedures. Many more workflows are to come.
