Tetsuya Yokoyama sat at a bar in Toyota City thinking about work. Tasked with developing a new business for his family’s auto part manufacturing company, he was in need of inspiration.

Concentrating on the rhythm of the ice as he watched the bartender methodically shake his cocktail, Yokoyama realized that instant what he was meant to do: create the world’s best shaker.

Two years of development, design, testing, tasting and countless cocktails later, a revolutionary new approach to bar tools was born. Employing industry-leading automotive press and polishing technology, Birdy bar tools offer an optimised surface smoothness that actually helps ice move more efficiently, thus helping you make better cocktails.

Erik Lorincz has always loved visiting Japan and its acclaimed bar culture. Each time, he would bring as many shakers as he could carry home to London in search of the perfect bar tool. And as fate would have it, one evening in a small bar in Osaka, the man searching the world for the ideal shaker had a drink with the man trying to make the world’s best shaker. And there you have it.
