Four years ago we dared to dream a great dream, though we knew that making this dream a reality would not be easy. We started working with enthusiasm, aware of our responsibilites, devoted to our cause - and as a fruit of our labours, the young and strong Miskolc Ballet is one of the most exciting dance companies in Hungary today.

The community of artists working at Miskolc Ballet all understand the challenges facing the troupe, and are prepared to answer them. As one of our young dancers said not too long ago: we live off our pain.

The company took part in an important Hungarian dance festival recent-ly, with members of the professional dance scene sitting in the audience. The post-talk discussions made it clear that the work done by the company is being recognized by other artists as well, not just by our fans in Miskolc. Yes, Miskolc Ballet has its own audience - right at home!

This is our main objective in Miskolc: to bring joy, to entertain, to give our audience cause for reflection. We want the unique and quality work done by Miskolc Ballet to bring new colours to the dance scene in Miskolc and Hungary as well, to be an example for excellence in contemporary Hungarian culture. The original meaning of the word 'culture' was to cul-tivate, to take care of something Things such as family, our relationships with others and with our community.

Let the four year old Miskolc Ballet be a force that builds such communities!
