AQUA Aquarium & Zoo was opened in June 1993. The idea behind AQUA has its rise in the late 1980s among a group of citizens who wanted to establish an exhibition about the threatened otters of the nearby river the Gudenåen. From this idea the visions of an actual aquarium and zoo developed. Since the opening, AQUA has been visited by more than 2.5 million guests establishing AQUA Aquarium & Zoo as one of the top attractions in the Søhøjlandet region! - A family friendly activity centre filled with exceptional underwater experiences among ferocious pikes, hunting otters and many other animals.

Without competent and engaged employees, board members, sponsors, patron and other cooperators it is not possible to maintain such a high level - and continuously work on expanding the activities. We wish to thank all - not least the many volunteers who do an extraordinary big effort.
