Since 1977, APEC-Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Center has a key role in the transfer of port knowledge from the Flemish Ports to the world. Over the years, the APEC seminars, have brought more than 13.000 people from 150 countries to Antwerp and Flanders. In this respect, APEC stands for much more than just a port training center by operating as a window to the world, bringing together people and expertise from all geographical corners of the planet.
APEC's board structure has 3 main components: the Antwerp Port Authority, the combination of Alfaport (Antwerp Private Port Community) and CEPA (Port of Antwerp employers' organisation) and the Flemish Government - Dept. of Mobility & Public Works.
Through short-term, practically-orientated and interactive courses, APEC offers the optimal transfer of knowledge on all current port-related issues through a well balanced mix of presentations and on-site visits. It is well-known that the APEC seminars always focus on interactivity and discussions by stimulating a professional dialogue between the public or private port managers on the one hand, and their international colleagues on the other hand.
Besides offering a full package including accommodation, one of the main elements in the success of APEC is the cooperation between public and private communities. This professional relationship is predominant for an adequate working of the seminars and offers the candidates access to the rich expertise present in the ports of Antwerp, Zeebrugge, Ghent and Ostend.
