Born in Magenta on the 10th of December 1977, Alessandro Sala attended the Civic School of Violin Making in Milan and then graduated in ''Industrial Design''. The art of Alessandro Sala continues to be indefectibly related to the theme of desertion, '' To that oblivion in which everything seems to fall ... - as Jorge Luis Borges says - '' ... how many lives are lived and slowly vanish without a trace! So the only remedy to oblivion is memory''.

There are numerous life-giving explorations in the valleys of Lombardy, along the magic banks of the Ticino to scout the ''torments''of its most winding and impetuous streams, but also the soft whisper of its most silent brooklets, in order to drive out desertion and oblivion. Sala is a transformative and creative artist, able to let our memory and experience appear once more from a ''wood'' which is lived, even derooted, with torn endings, that he is able to identify and capture with an accurate and definitive glimpse.

Yes, because wood is the matter from which our sculptor feeds, to express his belonging to the territory and its primitive form, that same ''Wood'' that is taken from its natural site, or else struck down by the wind or by time and also led by strong floods from the mountains down to the plains .

It is not, therefore, so rare to find the artist removing the '' Woods '' that most inspire him after spending long hours alone, immersed in nature, along the sunny banks of the rivers or in the crevices of the more shady woods.

Such inspiration comes from contact with the sinuous course of a ''special wood'', observed and studied, first, in the environment in which the ''Wood himself'' has clung in a gesture of extreme vitality... waiting for a life-giving human touch..

As a sign of unconditional love for nature the artist sometimes even brings back his finished works to their original site, as if to devote it to Nature once again. This way Sala's wooden creatures appear as mutants to us every time we seek dialogue with them; they are full of inner messages, capable of ever new suggestions. The harmony of shape prevails and invites us to an immersive visual and tactile contact. An interpretation of reality that claims motions of hope and freedom disclosing ''A typical language, the dialect of the place and of his soul - Sala says - which transmits everything it has to say, through silence.''

A primordial land that Sala's artistic wood brings to our ancestral memory, the one we always carry within us. And as the artist defines it: '... a language typical of places and our mother tongues, telling ancient stories, often forgotten, that rise from the substrates of the earth and from those of the peoples who inhabit, live and love it. '' .
