ALES was established in Czechoslovakia in 1992 by former Air Force radar professionals involved in research programmes focused on radar data processing systems beginning in the mid-1980s. Benefiting from their previous activities and experience in the ATC upgrade/integration programmes of the Czech and Slovak MoD while building on the solid tradition of Czechoslovak industry and radar production in particular, the company quickly established itself as the first supplier of advanced computer-aided ATC systems in the newly emerging Central/Eastern European region.

ALES has developed and implemented a number of state-of-the-art technologies, establishing itself as a pioneer inEuropeas well as in the world. These successes include PC-based radar data display (1991), electronic strips (1992), multi-radar processing of signals/data of both Western and ex-Soviet radars (1994), integration of civil and military ATC data (1993) and ATM systems (1996), radar networks (1994), IP-based radar networks (1996), integrated air picture (1996), radar refurbishment and upgrade (1997). ALES has continuously been on the cutting edge of development and implementation of new ideas and technologies. Through participation in the nationwide ATC upgrade and integration (later harmonization) projects for the Czech Air Force and the Slovak Armed Forces as well as in major ATC projects delivered for the Slovak Air Navigation Services and the Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise, ALES joined the ranks of worldwide leaders in providing ATC/ATM solutions with the completion of the first ICAO-compliant advanced ATC system for the ACC Kiev in 1996.

ALES plays a leading role in the design and deployment of command and control solutions for the defense sector. The unequalled performance of the provided solutions is evidenced by the fact that Czech and Slovak airspaces are the only ones in Central/Eastern Europe that are fully controlled by a domestic system, providing NATO allies with the required interoperability.

Following the break-up of Czechoslovakiain 1993, ALES continued doing business in both successor countries, the Czech Republicand the Slovak Republic, by establishing two separate ALES corporations. The two entities however work closely together to provide their customers with the most advantageous innovations and latest technologies. In 2008, ALES became a member of the ICZ group, the largest software provider in the Czech Republic.
